Tub-to-shower conversions
If your tub mostly gets stood in, a walk-in shower in the same space can make a lot more sense. The tub space usually becomes the shower, so the room keeps the same layout.
What's behind the tile
Tile and grout aren't waterproof on their own. The shower gets built on a waterproofing system, and we work with HydroBlok and Schluter Kerdi.
The drain
A tub drains at one end, and a shower drain usually needs to sit somewhere else. Sometimes it can be adapted and sometimes it has to move. If there's a basement below, that's often easier.
Glass or a curtain
A glass door or panel is what makes it feel like a real walk-in shower. A curtain works too and costs less.

Is this the only tub in the house? If you have young kids, or might sell soon, it's worth keeping one somewhere. Think about whether you want a niche for shampoo, a bench, or a handheld shower.
